There is a saying which is believed to be the truth which says that 'there is no thief who claims ". But there is also another story of a thief who is perhaps most well-known throughout human history. Because they always remembered the story and even mentioned as an example year after year since two thousand years ago. They are two people who were convicted and sentenced to death. But the moment of punishment is what makes the difference, even many believe could be a very valuable lesson.
The thief is two people who were crucified along with Jesus Christ two thousand years ago. They were crucified on either side of the Redeemer, flanking the position of the cross so that the three were even more beautiful to be described and further strengthened to be remembered and reflected upon men of all time.
What is interesting is their dialogue. Them in dialogue on the minute minute wait his death. Because of their position flanking Jesus, then their dialogue or sound trajectories they must pass through the Savior Jesus Christ that can be heard and listened Slamat foundation, direction and purpose of their conversation.
Dialogue of Two Criminals
Starting with one of them, as described in Luke 23: 39, "Are you not the Christ? Save thyself and us ". At first glance these words seem to just look for proof of the greatness and omnipotence of Christ, but the aim is only to freedom in the world in order to lower himself and help them. It seems also not to blaspheme, just an attempt to gain safety. But at the beginning of Luke 23: 39 was written by the author of Luke: One of the criminals who were hanged there was hurling abuse at Him, he said, and so on. Where is the blasphemy of this sentence?
According to my personal belief lies in the intonation used. Sentence intonation can be used as people take for granted, people sneer, or ridicule, or the goal was just to humiliate another person. We can say the words: "you're great" with various intonations. We can use that word for word sneer, and to praise with admiration. The one mocked and one filled with humility.
Other evidence, (I think this is more powerful) phrase used by thieves who first came not from his heart, not because it comes from the contemplation before the Jews blaspheme Jesus Christ with the same sentence. And this phrase is used of the Jews, the priests termsuk soldier Roman soldier only to belittle and humiliate Jesus Christ. As said earlier in Luke 23: 35 The people stood by and seen it all. Leaders mocked him, saying: "Others he saved, let now he save himself, if he is the Messiah, the chosen people of God."
What is the reaction of Jesus Christ of blasphemy rogues this first? Christ is only silence. There is no description of the answers, or any reaction of the Lord Jesus. He Demand mouth in a silent patience.
What is interesting is the response of the adjoining thief again. The response is very good and illustrates a deeper recognition of who Jesus Christ. The response that comes from the heart, the response that comes from thinking that he did not mean at all, and was pronounced full of impropriety juice.
What did he say? First he rebuked his friend who had blasphemed described in Luke 23: 40: But the one rebuked him, saying: "Do you not fear, nor to God, are you receiving the same punishment?
When translated in the language of young people now maybe he wanted to say, "Lu was hanged still kagak afraid yes, you also do not fear God (sin of sins risk), you will soon die, you know! It's still hanged blasphemed. "Maybe I am thinking that next to the other thief.
Even more thrilling is the last two sentences. Luke 23:41 We are properly punished, for we receive the due penalty with our deeds, but this guy did not do anything wrong. "Then he said:" Jesus, remember me when You come into your kingdom. "
A recognition which I think contains a very strong theological quality and deep and true. "We deserve to be punished because we are worth stealing, in proportion to our iniquities". So from the cross he admitted that he deserved to be put to death. He knew what he did was a mistake that konskwensinya is the crucifixion and death. He did not ask to be released from any act which he did.
Then he said to compare what was experienced by Jesus Christ: but this man did not do anything wrong.
This second thief knew well that Christ was innocent, Christ did not sin. There is an erroneous court. Only the desire many people who do not make sense to crucify Jesus. He felt that Jesus was not supposed to be there, should not be crucified Christ. (Then his heart to ask questions, and the subsequent birth of profound admiration was to Christ). Why He remained on the cross. And He is the King?
Where did these thieves know that Christ is King? Definitely of the crowds, from the crowd, from the news he had heard before that Christ is the Messiah, the Son of God who would rule Israel as King to judge the world. He came to know Christ as savior, he knew Him as the King who will come.
His belief in Christ finally make him humbly ask for something else, not the freedom of self-worldly. But he came to know Christ as savior of another life after death. He received the death penalty, but He knew Jesus had power over death and life after death that will soon be up to Himself.
He then sang a prayer request in intonation: "Then he said:" Jesus, remember me when You come into your kingdom. "He only asks to be remembered; remember his death at the time of Christ comes as King". Because he believes that one day Christ will come again as a King? How did he know and believe that Christ will come as King?
Life After Death
Against the words thief this second gift God has the answers at once. The answer will be remembered throughout time by all who will die. Died by remembering and acknowledging all its faults, died in righteousness, died murdered by his belief in Jesus Christ. The answer of the Lord Jesus is at once the answer to where he had gone the first dihebuskan spirit of God to man that He created first. Because the Human Spirit is God's lent to the body of human mortal.
Where has that spirit? And when? The answer of the Lord Jesus is a clarity to all mankind: Jesus said to him: "I tell you, this day shalt thou be with Me in Paradise."
Direct prize instantly, probably only about 3 to 4 hours longer, waiting for death to come. The death of the humble and ask for Christ is a short trip to Paradise. Paradise which in Persian means the park. Place of beauty and comfort that is maintained on the authority of Jesus Christ. And Christ was present in the park.
Once the thief impaled or stretch out the life blood of the mortal body, the spirit that directed immediately to Paradise. While a few moments before Jesus Christ was first laid down His life to his Father. He did not die because of any act or power of man, He died because he chose to die to accompany the humble thief.
What about the thief on the first one where he was after his death? It is not clear and not depicted where? Commentaries can be kind of variety, but certainly only Jesus knows.
The most interesting thing is, the distance of the two thieves were only about one meter from the cross of Christ. Same as dependent, which is close because of arrogance knows no heart, and focus only on safety in the world. People who focus only on life in the world would hardly know and accept Jesus Christ.
The other at close, yet so in Jesus Christ, and its focus is not life in the world. He knew and know that Jesus did not deserve to be punished to death. He alone who deserve to be punished to death. For that he was not asked to be derived from the cross, but Jesus asked God to remember his death when He comes as King. King of all Kings.
The thief was saved on the minutes to his death. All men of any race, ethnicity, and religion will be saved by Jesus Christ on a minute minutes into his death. What is important to know the Lord Jesus, who will come as King.
I was so respectful to people who are considered low humiliating and miserable life, but to know Jesus Christ than those who pretentious moral and good, but the focus of his life only this mortal world alone. The longest was only about 80 or so years.
